Gibson Dark Fire

The newest Gibson guitar can tune itself! It comes with a few common alternate tunings and it also has space to put in your own. It has a Les Paul special body on it (Thats what it looks like to me). When you buy it, it comes with a wireless system for your amp and a "Limited Edition" hard case to go with that. If I hand a few thousand dollars laying around I would propbably rather get a Robot SG, It also tunes itself at the push of a button.

Smoke On the Water

These are a Couple tabs for Smoke on the water. It's not a christian song but its famous and something every guitar player should know. Its A ton easier than the first song I learned (God Of Wonders) and it sounds great on Electric and Acoustic guitars, probably bass too. Some people play it in Drop D, I think Drop C sounds the best, but I usually play it in standard tuning. Here is the easy way:

e---------------------------------------------------------
B---------------------------------------------------------
G---------------------------------------------------------
D---------------------------------------------------------
A---------------------------------------------------------
E---0--3--5-----0--3--65-5---0--3--5--3--0-0-000----

You can play the same riff on the high E string (1st string, not 6th) and it sounds pretty good, play it any speed you want, I tried to space it the way I play it but this is my first tab.
Here is the slightly harder but what I believe to be the correct way ( alot of people play it with bar chords but I think this is better):

e-------------------------------------------------
B-------------------------------------------------
G-------------------------------------------------
D-------------------------------------------------
A---1--3--5---1--3--65-5---1--3--5--3--1-1-111
E---0--3--5---0--3--65-5---0--3--5--3--0-0-111

Just strum those two strings, I usually make a little bar thing over them but if you can't do that you could just play it with two fingers. Sorry about the alignment, blogger won't let me change the font and the 0's are smaller than every thing else so it causes problems.

Southern Hospitality!

Disciple came out with a new CD!!! It's pretty good, but not as good as Scars Remain. The guitar in this album is better than I've ever heard in any album by anybody. I think part of the reason for the guitar is because Brad Noah (Disciple guitar player) recently quit the band due to health problems, but he agreed to play during recording. I think he wanted to make his final album the best he's ever done. The new guitar player is pretty good too, I got to see him in concert and he is probably the most active guy I've seen.

Disciple Concert!!

I went to a awsome concert yesterday for my birthday! We almost didn't get to go because everybody my Dad talked to said their wasn't a concert, but I got my Dad to ask again and they said they were. They still didn't do a good job of telling us what was happening because their was another band (It was Manafest which is one guy so I guess it's not really a band). Above photos are of Manafest. High Flight Society was there, and some girl who I had never heard of who called the rest of the people in her band "the poptarts" (they were all guys). And there was this really good skater (there were BMX guys going too but I didn't want' to leave my spot, which was front and center) he was sort of a skateboard evangilist type guy, he haaad this really long speach trying to witness but after he was done he asked how many of the crowd was christian and everybody was. But my highlight of the day (the whole reason I came) was DISCIPLE!! They did all their hit songs, except for "Fight for Love" which is one of my favourites. They did one of their new songs also, it was pretty good but the lyrics were written more for a live concert. Afterwards I got the whole band to sign a poster, and I talked to Kevin Young, the lead singer. If anyones been to a disciple concert you know how he gets sort of low to the stage and towards the front when he screams (as everyone I know would describe his singing) and I was front and center of the concert, so I had the best veiw!!! their are too many pictures so I'll have the ones up there and all my Pictures of Disciple on my brickshelf. It will take a while so I'll just make another post with the link.

New Music Videos

I just put some new music videos on here. One of them is Frontlines by Pillar, most of this video isn't so good but the end is really cool. Also there is After the World by Disciple. I'm trying to learn to play this song on my guitar and I wanted to watch the strumming parterns so I just put it on here (I had to use a different website to get the video so the screen is real small instead of the regular size).

Windsurfing

I was going to learn to kiteboard, but it is so exspensive and I decided to do windsurfing, wich is basically surfing on a tiny sailboat. Here is an animation-slideshow type thing: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3355465

DISCIPLE'S NEW CD!!!!

Almost every week I've been checking this website for when they were going to realease it (I knew they were making a new album from their website, http://disciplerocks.com). I have a news clip posted on my blog towards the bottom and I went down to check my counter and a saw that it said something about Disciple. There was an article about there new CD part of it Kevin Young said "..The record will have 12 total tracks - eight of which will be up-tempo and 'heavy,'.." The rest can be read here : http://www.jesusfreakhideout.com/news/2008/07/25.DISCIPLE%20TO%20OFFER%20UP%20SOME%20SOUTHERN%20HOSPITALITY.asp

Kiteboarding Pictures

These are some kiteboarding snapshots I took from a video. I would be doing stuff like this if these kites weren't so exspensive.

Paintball Animation

It is a little chopy and slow but the original version had to many frames and my graphics program wouldn't put it together. This is like my secound complete animation (the first is the header). Here is the link: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3238997

Advice

DO NOT ever shoot a paintball gun without clear permission to do so. I recently did this without clear permission and I ended up scrubing every tree and fence in our backyard (if you ever have to clean an oak tree, I recomend a pressure washer not a sponge). I then had to pick up all the casings (or whatever you want to call the latex stuff around the paint) every paintball I shot.
So if you don't plan on doing any of this, don't shoot your paint in the backyard.

New Video

There's a new music video, Family Force 5-Never Let Me Go, that is somewhat stupid.
It's a good song and a funny video but it is actually pretty stupid (WHICH MAKES IT FUNNY RIGHT?!).
I just wanted to say that at THE TOP of the blog since I don't think to many people look at the bottom, where all the good stuff is.

Me Wakeboarding

Top- This is a picture of me doing a wake jump (sort of, it might as well be a tail slide). I usually go for a little less of a tilt, because usually if I'm tilted any more than that I'm inverted and about to land on my head from 10 feet going 25 miles per hour.

Bottom- This is a photo of a Glassy Carve attempt, I think the picture was taken a secound after the main part of the carve so I can't tell if I did it this time. A Glassy Carve is probably my favorite trick to do, but it is a little easy.

These pictures were taken on our aquasport's last run before we got towed. The starter got jammed and we had to get towed by a group of guys who were on a 4 day fishing trip (in a very nice twin engine boat, one of them was a lawyer). Today we got it back from the shop and were going to ski (my brother gets mad if I say "wakeboard" because he either skis or kneeboards), but now the throttle is messed up. Further updates on the boats status can be found here.

P.S. I may make a post about how to wakeboard, and update it on how to do some minor tricks.

Disciple Continued

Disciple is my favorite band. And I would like to say that their first album, Disciple, is not nearly as good as their 2nd. They are most known for their song "After the World". Here is a video about the making of it.

Wakeboarding Podcasts

This is a podcast of the winning run at wakestock (don't think your speakers don't work because there is no sound).

Landing a back roll with Matt Crowhurst

The Wake Show, Australian pro tour stop 4 (rail jam with lots of crashes)

Hawk nelson video

This is a HN podcast.

P.S. if this does not work I will be mad at blogger since this takes a very long time.

Hawk Nelson is a more common christian rock band than most of the stuff I listen to, like Flatfoot56. They have a much softer sound than disciple but manage to keep it more like rock than contemporary Christian music. I think their best song would probably be Bring 'em Out (drake bell version) or You have what I need.

This is a video of tobyMac getting slammed into by someone from hawk nelson.

Walking a pancake with a ipod cord.

Just so everyone knows, I'm not a huge HN fan I just like their podcast and have like three of their songs.

Thousand Foot Krutch

Thousand Foot Krutch is a Christian mixture of rock, alternative, and rap. The result sounds pretty good. Their music video was recently nominated for a Dove Award (I did not see if they won). Their best songs are probably Puppet, Falls Apart, Phenomenon, Absolute, and Ordinary (In that order).

Flatfoot 56

Flatfoot56 is a Celtic Christian rock band. Most of their songs don't have a very strong message but sound really good. Being Celtic, they have bagpipes in most of their songs. Along with good guitar, drums, and vocals it sounds great! Flatfoot 56's album "Jungle of the Midwest Sea" was recently nominated for a Dove Award (I didn't see if they won).

Disciple Rocks!

If you have never heard of Disciple, the christan hard rock band, then you should go to disciplerocks.com or listen to them on itunes. Disciple is one of the best christian hard rock bands out there. If you don't like that type of music they have some softer songs too. Their best song is probably Game On (they have a special version for every football team) or Fight for Love. If they are coming to your town, it's the best concert around! They also have a very strong message in nearly every song.

P.S. If you can't understand the lyrics, they have the common ones on their website http://disciplerocks.com/
